Daily Claims

Daily Claims Adjusters

Every day, Independent Adjusters handle claims related to disasters that strike without notice. These daily claims arise from losses that happen every day but are not necessarily caused by a natural catastrophic disaster. Instead, they are caused by events and accidents like a fire in the kitchen, a leaking pipe, a sewer back-up, or the slip and fall of someone visiting your property.

HOW CAN YOU BE PREPARED

The simple truth of the matter is that daily claims are everyday occurrences, and they generally strike when you least expect them. Aside from following your insurance company’s prevention tips, and general safety regulations when it comes to things that may set on fire – such as candles or clothing dryers – and keeping your floors and walkways as dry and clear as possible, the best way to be prepared for a daily claim is to know what to do once one occurs.

Vector Risk Solutions has put together a helpful guide that outlines the steps you need to take in order to make sure your claim is processed smoothly and efficiently:

1. Notify Your Insurance Company Right Away

This is probably the most important thing you can do. The sooner you let your insurance company know about the loss, the sooner they can begin processing your claim.

2. Take Pictures or Video of the Damages

If it’s safe to do so, take pictures or video of the damages. This will help your adjuster get a better idea of the extent of the damages and will help to speed up the claims process.

3. Gather Important Documents

Some of the documents you’ll want to gather and have on hand may include:

  • Your insurance policy
  • A list of damaged or destroyed items
  • Receipts for any items that need to be replaced
  • Any estimates for repairs

DAILY CLAIMS FAQ

A daily claim is a standard, everyday problem that can arise, such as a slip on a wet kitchen floor or a fire. A daily claim is essentially any type of insurance claim that is not related to a natural disaster, while catastrophe claims (often known as “CAT claims”) are specifically related to  natural disasters, such as a hurricane, tornado, or earthquake.

There are many types of perils, or causes of loss, that may fall under a daily claim. An example may be water damage due to a broken pipe, sewage backup, failed sump pump, or any other type of water-related damage. Another example is fire damage, such as a kitchen fire, clothes dryer fire, or any other type of fire that damages your property.

The first step is to contact your insurance carrier to report the loss and start the claims process. Once you have done that, an adjuster from Vector Risk Solutions will be assigned to your claim and will contact you directly.

When you report your claim, you will need to provide some basic information about what happened, when it happened, and where it happened. You will also need to have your insurance policy information handy so that the claims adjuster can start working on your claim right away.

The role of an independent adjuster is to act as a neutral third party between you and your insurance company. We will investigate your claim, document the damages, and estimate the cost of repairs. We will also work with your insurance company to make sure that you receive a fair settlement for your claim.

The length of time it takes to settle a daily claim varies depending on the severity of the damages and the complexity of the claim. In most cases, we can settle your claim within 30 days.

If you have any questions about your claim, please contact your assigned adjuster. We will be happy to answer any questions that you may have about the claims process.
