Next, our adjuster will investigate the incident and make an estimate of the damages.

4.  Settlement

Once the investigation is complete, our adjuster will work with you to settle your claim.

5.  Follow Up

After your claim is settled, we will follow up with you to make sure you are satisfied with the outcome of your claim.

WAYS TO PREPARE

We understand it’s impossible to predict when or where a catastrophe will happen. However, there are some things you can do to help prepare yourself and your family in the event of a major event.

Here are a few tips to help you be prepared:

1.  Review Your Insurance Coverage

Make sure you understand your insurance policy and what it covers. This will help you know what to expect from your insurance company in the event of a claim.

2.  Create an Emergency Kit

Put together a kit with supplies that will last you and your family for at least 72 hours. Include items like food, water, first-aid supplies, and medications. [Tip: Make photocopies of important documents, such as passports, driver’s licenses, birth certificates and insurance information.]

3.  Stay Informed

Keep up with the latest news and weather reports in the event of a major event. This will help you know what to expect and how to stay safe.

4.  Stay Safe

In the event of a major event, always stay safe and follow the instructions of emergency personnel. Do not put yourself in danger by trying to return to your home or property until it is safe to do so.

5.  Have a Plan

Make sure you have a plan for what to do in the event of an emergency. This should include a list of emergency contacts, evacuation routes, and where to meet up with your family. Don’t way for disaster to strike to try and organize your loved ones. Taking preventative measures can make all the difference when it comes to your safety.

In the event of a flood

Floods are one of the most common and destructive disasters, and the damage isn’t always immediately visible. While some areas are more prone to floods than others, they can happen anywhere, at any time, and often without warning. Know the guidelines on floods for your city or county.

In the event of a hurricane

Hurricanes are massive tropical storms that can bring high winds, storm surge, flooding, and other damage to coastal areas. Generally, there is warning prior to a hurricane striking. It’s imperative to be ready in the event of a hurricane and to take preparative steps for your household ahead of time.

In the event of a wildfire

Wildfires are uncontrolled fires that often spread quickly and can be very dangerous. Have an emergency bag packed for your family at all times so that you can get out of harms way as soon as possible.

In the event of a tornado

Tornadoes are violent storms that can cause destruction in a matter of minutes. They often occur with little or no warning, so it’s important to be prepared ahead of time. Read up on tornado safety precautions, and if you’re in an area where tornadoes have struck before, have a plan in place for your family on where you will go at a moment’s notice.

In the event of an earthquake

Earthquakes are sudden and often violent shaking of the ground, and can happen without warning. If you live in an area that is prone to earthquakes, it’s important to be prepared ahead of time. Make sure you know how to turn off utilities in your home, and discuss emergency plans with your family. Have an agreed upon location of where you will go in the event that you are not together and cannot reach one another if disaster strikes.
